Normal Force

The normal force is a force that is always perpendicular to the surface. It is a force exerted onto the object by another secure, stable object. For example if a person is standing on a table at rest, then the Fnorm on the person's feet balances the person's weight.

Frictional Force

When an object attempts to move along or is crossing a surface with which it is in contact a force is exerted, known as friction. There is static friction and kinetic friction.Static friction is the friction created when two objects with uneven surfaces, such as your palms, are rubbed together.  
Sliding friction is created when an object is drug over another stationary object, such as a desk over the floor. The two surfaces and pressed against one another giving off this force, usually opposing the direction of motion.

Tension Force

Tension force is exerted through a string, rope or wire. The tension runs through as the either three when they are pulled by an opposing force. For example a pulley, or a someone pulling a sled, the leash of an animal, etc.

Gravitational Force

There is a gravitational force upon the earth which is in any situation directed and exerted downwards onto earth. No matter the plane, stationary, tilted, Fgrav is directed straight down. An important equation to remember is Fgrav= (m)(g). M= the mass of the object and g= the gravitational constant which is 10 Newtons (N). Keep in mind weight and mass are two seperate elements.

Applied Force

Applied force is when a person or another object is subjecting the object to force. Applied force is for example when a human pushed a chair across the room.

Air Resistance Force

Air resistance force is taken into consideration when there is an object in motion and air is pushing against this object. Air resistance in another form of frictional force, and like in all other cases of frictional force, air resistance force should always be moving in the direction opposite to the subject.
